What a strange country Finland is when they need to place cows in a 'nature reserve'. Are they endangered there? Minnesota has plenty to give away, if you need more.

Well, not so strange country but foresighted :) Traditionally the cattle and sheep were freely on the coastal meadows during the summer time. They formed the lanscape with their presence, naturally, roaming around the meadows and between the trees. Those sites were also ecologically unique, many plants were growing there because of optimal conditions caused byt the cattle. So, now these animals are brought back to nature to do the job, to maintain this traditional scenery and to bring back conditions where those plants grow that only old folks remember. Does it make sense as a nature reserve?
