Helsinki: The rising sun and a sun dog (parhelion), a colourful patch caused by refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in cirrus clouds. View from Aurinkolahti beach, district of Vuosaari.

There is a silent uplifting beauty in this picture, it could almost be an image of the dawn of time, when the sun rose for the first time. Beautiful.

Looking at this month's slideshow, so many of the pictures have a primal, almost alien quality to them with anything modern (eg ship, person walking dog) being almost invasive

Niklas, again I must comment on the beauty, composition and quality of your pictures. This one reminds me of walks to and through Uutela that I enjoyed while visiting my brother. At the time (Jan-Apr 2008)he lived in Cirrus Tallo. Thanks again for your pictures. I am glad to have found your website. By the way, I am from Ohio, USA.
