Kotka: Mansikkalahti marina in the Katariina district of Kotka, a city in southeastern Finland. The same place can be seen in my photo taken on Christmas Eve 2004.

Hi Niklas, its got nothing to do with your picture but in the Netherlands it was news of the day that Finland is the first country in the world that has more woman in the government than man. I just want to say, as a woman, well done! Only they were dressed very dark. I missed the colours I am used to see in your pictures and relate to Finland.

@Gré: Well done, indeed! For some reason Finns often dress dark and colourless, including myself. I'm glad if my pictures from Finland can compensate the pale exterior of its people! ;)

@ Gré: I do not think, that the dark "dresses" (actually costumes or suits) have anything to do with the country. It has do do with some kind of "color-psychology". I have read some books about it (forced by one of my 3 professional trainingsw) - and I had a few good laughs about it. But acccoring to "dressing rules", dark (it starts with dark grey) colours emphasise "competence". And supposedly there are even some researches (sorry, I don't remember the sources - I must admit, I did not take it serious), where people were shown pictures of people in different dressing styles. And - no matter whether men or woman - when they wore dark grey or black, they were considered more competent than people dressed in other colours (For women in addition no mini-skirts were allowed. Women + mini-skirt = no competence, according to researches).
And for an example, one of the most wide spread "psychological" color test is the so called "Lüscher-Test". For example, I love the combination black and red, which according to the Lüscher-Test would make me a depressive (black) - aggressive (red) person. Neither is true. I am not depressed nor aggressive (or at least, not more than any other "normal" person). But still, to me, the combinatin of black and red it stylish, wonderful, calming, classic, timeless... So, regarding the colours, they definitely have nothing to do with the person, but what is considered "OK" under the circumstances. "The" business colors in the western world are dark grey and black combined with white (just look at any pictures of EU-gatherings: sometimes the women wear an other colour, but men always war black or dark gray. Only the tie is a colourful spot!). If you want to play the game....

@Maria. Thanks for the explanation.
In the Netherlands there is a rule that the woman in a new gouverment can wear bright colours for as long they don´t overrule the queen on the official photo by the installation ;) The last photo was very colourful, also by the man!
