Helsinki: Lightnings strike above the district of Katajanokka during a nightly thunderstorm, which arrived from the Gulf of Finland. The exposure time of the photo was one minute.
That's impressive! Almost scary. Different from the usual lightning shots.

Just got back from Finland and more in love with the country than ever. Thankfully missed the bad weather. Tampere and Turku were beautiful. Now seriously thinking about moving!

Thank you all for your comments! As I already wrote in Finnish, this was the first time I managed to capture a lightning with my camera. During one hour of continuous shooting I caught one or more lightnings on seven photos. I think this one was the best of them, although there was another one maybe worth publishing (without this one).

A beautiful picture Niklas, intense and with a claustrophobic element to it. Then a strange thought came into my mind that it reminded me of puppet strings coming from heaven into the buildings and lives of the unseen people. The strings of fate caught in their dark beauty.

Interestingly, I did not notice any thunderstorms at the time this picture was taken. It must have been quite a local thunderstorm then. By far not as heavy and widespread as the one in the night of 27th to 28th of May.

Oops, I'm sorry. I just realised that I was in Norway on 30th May. That might explain why I did not notice the thunderstorm in which this picture was taken. My deepest apologies!
