Helsinki: Valkosaari island outside the South Harbour in the light of the setting sun. The building with the tower is a summer restaurant. Photo taken from nearby the Market Square.

What is it about the setting sun in Finland that it seems to gild evrything it shines on?

Iain is right. Something about a Finnish sunset makes everything look good. I was wondering what kind of lens you used and think you surely must use a tripod. According to the location you took this picture from the "on the map" feature, you were quite a ways away from these buildings. I took a photo last September from about the same place and it looks nowhere near the quality of your photo. In my photo you can barely tell there are buildings on the island. Kiitos kuvasta!!

Iain, Shane, Evi, Anna, thank you!
Shane, I was using my VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm lens without a tripod. It was a good opportunity to test the inbuilt vibration reduction mechanism of the lens. The original image, in fact, wasn't very sharp, but diminishing it made it a little sharper. The next photo (with the sailing ship) is taken from the same spot, and you can actually see the building in that picture, too.
