Garður, Iceland: Garðskagaviti from 1897 is the oldest lighthouse of Iceland. It's situated in Garður in the southwestern part of Iceland, about 30 kilometres west from the capital, Reykjavik. The sea bed behind the lighthouse is partly visible due to low tide.

Hi Niklas!
What a surprise that you went to Iceland for the lighthouses. My whole life I am fascinated by lighthouses. I know you do also, I've seen many fins lighthouses on your site. The last 10 years I collect miniature lighthouses (only from real lighthouses) I love them, so I am very curious to see the pictures of the Iceland lighthouses. I think there are many! I really love the one above becourse of his shape and colours and the rocks. In the Netherlands the lighthouses always stand in the dunes or along a long green dike. I love to see lighthouses on savage coasts.

Gré, I'm happy that you too like lighthouses! :) We saw about 30 of them in Iceland, and I think that's almost as many as you can see in one week. I especially love the surroundings of the lighthouses. Driving around Iceland is just like being in a dream you don't want to wake up from!

Sorry, 30? I am a bit jealous at this moment.
