I moved out of Finland 3 weeks ago. Your pictures make me miss it more!

This July will be the first time for me to see Finland in summertime - everyone says it's beautiful and I believe them. (: Hopefully I'll have 3 weeks to check it. (:

(Anyway Jagoda, I've been learning Finnish since September 2006, but I'm too shy so I can't speak it... not even write it, I just simply don't dare to use most of the languages I learn. But I understand you (: )

Essi, telling us you don't dare to speak languages you learn makes you sound like a typical Finn. Perhaps it's a common problem for people speaking Finno-Ugric languages, like us Finns and you Hungarians? ;)

Anyway, welcome to Finland in July!

I think we British take the prize for not conversing in any language other than English. As a teacher I am always amazed and embarrassed by other Europeans' ability to speak English, when all too often Englsih kids say, 'Why should we speak another language?'
I'm off to Finland (Tampere) again in 10 days then back for two weeks in July - August. Can't wait.

When I was in Helsinki and Tallinn I met plenty of people who were fluent in English - not like in Hungary, Poland or the Czech Republic... so I think it's rather a Middle European problem than a Finno-Ugric.
Anyway I know the correct anwser to my problem, but I don't know the solution... :S
In Hungary we have to learn the grammar in all languages if we want to pass an exam. But it doesn't mean that we can use the language in the real life as we are thinking a lot about hoe to say it in a correct way instead of how to say it in a simply way just everyone to understand it - anyway I think it's not the correct way in this sentence... So that's why we Hungarians can't speak foreign languages.(When I had that exam I remember I was so silent that they said "if you don't speak, you won't pass" or something like this.)
But problem is over, because in July I will stay in Turku for a week with a Finnish friend who actually doesn't speak Hungarian just some similar phrases like how to say good night...etc

(oh I see, I'm quite talkative if I don't have to speak :D and sorry for the offtopic comments)
