Helsinki: A wintry evening view over the frozen North Harbour from Tervasaari island towards the district of Katajanokka.

Yes, really looks wintry *brrr* Although I was once in Helsinki at this time in March, and it was fantastic seeing the frozen sea and taking long walks on it, I must admit I am glad that here (a bit further south) spring seems to come and the flowers (snowdrops and primroses) start to blossom.

Wow! Still have lot of snow there. The snow melted away here already.
What is that metal thing in the middle of the sea?

Maria, after a break of two years the sea finally froze outside Helsinki this winter. In many places (including here) the ice unfortunately never got strong enough for safe walking, though. :( Personally I wouldn't mind a few more winter months, since this is perhaps the time of the year that I like the most.
Nui, where's "here"? The metal thing is actually made of concrete, and it's the breakwater of the marina, which is outside the picture on the right.

Yaeh, sometimes I don't understand the global warming. Last year there was no frozen sea. This looks like an good old fashion winter again in Helsinki. I love to see your pictures but I am glad to see the spring (crocussen and daffodils) in my garden. This weekend it wil be 15 degrees. I am loving it.

Here in Munich, we got so much snow 2 weeks ago which reminded me of Finland. Yes, I love winter and snow! Last week, especially on Thu and Fri, the weather was all crazy. Every less than an hour or so, it changed from sunny to snow storm, and back to sunny. Then, sleeting and hailing and on and on.....

I truly enjoy "visiting" winter, but I confess a truly passionate feeling for spring, which is now fully underway here in the middle of the United States. Blooms are "popping up" all over, some trees are getting leaves, and the temperature is warm enough to send me running out to the garden to do what some people call "work" but I call a "labor of love."
