Helsinki: View from the beach of Läntinen Pihlajasaari island. Despite a beautiful spring day the lively summer season seems far away, and there's still no use for the bathing huts, which were also seen in the previous picture.

Anna, it's a little chilly now, but according to the weather forecast the weekend should be warm. :)

Yes, there is a ferry going to Pihlajasaari. See route 3 in this map:

Wow, I should fly to Helsinki then. It was very warm here in Vienna too, but for the weekend (well, long weekend as Monday is a holiday) the weatherforecast says cold and wet. Lucky you!

I flew back yesterday and it was 28 degrees at Vantaa. With the schools finishing and students out celebrating there was a reall feeling that summer had started... and I've got to keep working till July....

Iain, today it might be near 30 degrees in southern Finland, but don't worry, the summer will take a giant leap backwards soon: ~10 degrees in the weather forecast for next Thursday. See more here:

I love your incredibly beautiful pictures. Anyway, Helsinki is the most beautiful city I've ever seen.
