Märket, Åland Islands (Finland) / Sweden: Dark clouds above Märket lighthouse, part 5. My fourth day on the small lighthouse island in the Baltic Sea at the border between Finland and Sweden was dominated by spectacular cloud formations and extreme weather conditions from bright sunshine to heavy downpour and thunder.

This is my first photo of mammatus clouds. Mammatus clouds or mammatocumulus are not often seen in Finland, and actually I don't remember seeing them in real life before this.

That looks like a fantastic moment for a shot, those unusual clouds, sunshine, the green water. Great atmosphere and a bit end-of-the-worldish. I love this picture.

Wow, this is truly amazing shot, like all the photos from this island. This really is an advantage to stay long in one place, especially in Finland / sea / mountains where the weather paints the scenery. You can make several interesting shots of the same subject during this week... I just wonder, was it a calming experience to spend one week on a tiny island?
