Exactly. Kim and I know this place and have been standing there a couple of times. But in the summer or autumn time the water is splashing against the stones.
To have this icy buildings there now it must have been very windy so that the water splashes more than 1,5 m high on the shore.
But we think it is all over now again, or?

Yes, it's all over now. Yesterday and last night it rained (water) for several hours. The winter will return next week, though.

Thanks for the 'On the Map' feature, Nik. the site just keeps getting better

Iain, thanks, you're actually the first to comment on the new map feature. Thank you also for your message in my guestbook! :)

I've been working on the new Google Maps feature lately, and today I added the locations for the photos of November, December and January. If the 'On the map' link doesn't show up for any of these photos, please reload the page containing the photo. My intention is to add location data for all new photos, and gradually for older ones, too.

Wow! Cool! The map feature is great!!
Iain is right, Niklas just keeps making this site better
and better. Thanks again!!

Hi Niklas - that explains a lot! The way you show us the location of your photos makes it easier to understand what we see. Great!
I'll go on checking backwards as far as possible.
As Shane mentioned: taivasalla.net becomes more and more interesting even for those who visit the site for the first time.
Hope there will be a lot of new spectators.

It is snowing right now... (northern suburbs of Athens!)
The roofs and ground are partly covered with snow and snowfall will be until noon, today :-(

Theo, this week the weather here will make everything freeze again...

Evi, I wish we had some new snow here, too! Old, half-melted snow looks so dirty.

Evi from Greece

Well, that was it, Niklas. The snow just stopped, sun came again...
Just for a few hours only, but it's ok!
We have quite serious problem in my country lately. No rain at all and high temperatures during almost all November, December and January, very worrying all this. We saw roses blooming, people at beaches playing rackets and several were swiming in the middle of previous month, max.temp. 22 - 23 c in january !
Rain it is expected on next days, we will see,we absolutely need it!

Niklas, also old half-melted snow can look beautiful if we just look at it in the right way; in other words without prejudice and with open mind :)

Evi, Some problems are expected now also here in Finland due to the weather; the extremely mild december and january caused some plants even here to awake into "spring" in some degree. However during this week there'll be -20 C to -30 C degrees of frost in southern Finland and Helsinki too, which surely will do some harm to those plants if other earlier frosts haven't done so allready...

Niklas, thanks a lot for the Google map option. Half a year ago I saved the whole Google map of Helsinki and thus explored the city. Now it's much eaier to find the exact place of your photos.
