Helsinki: A boat approaching Kustaanmiekka strait situated east of the Suomenlinna islands. The sea was steaming in freezing weather conditions like one year earlier: Feb 6th, 2006.

As soon as I saw this I had the strangest feeling of deja vu! Incredible that you can take such similar pictures almost exactly one year apart!

Niklas,
on Monday 06 February 2006 you shot a photo of a pilot vessel in foggy conditions. This pic shows a different type of boat, perhaps a SAR cruiser or any "official" patrol boat?
Anyway it is great and I wished to be there.

Last year's photo was ghostly and frightening, a long ago perished ship coming back to haunt. This year's ship, on the other hand, is sailing right into a brighter future.

I tried to compare the type of vessel with that one seen on
http://www.reposaari.net/?p=yhdistyksia&pid=pelastusrengas
So if you can enlarge the flag on your pic, you might be able to determin, if it was a meripelastus cruiser. (;-))
