Jökulsárlón, Iceland: Icebergs in Jökulsárlón, a large glacial lake near the southeastern coast of Iceland. The water and the icebergs in the lake come from Breiðamerkurjökull, the glacier seen in the background. Breiðamerkurjökull is a part of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe.

Why are parts of the iceberg black? Is that shadows or is it dirt?

Jana, that's mostly dirt, or actually soil transported by the ice, I think.

The black thing you see is both sand which is blown from the sands near the glacier and ash (tephra fallout) from volcanic eruptions.
